Description

Made from fresh oranges and granulated sugar, this orange simple syrup recipe adds flavor to tea and coffee, moistens homemade cakes, and works as an orange cocktail syrup.


Ingredients

220 milliliters water (1 cup)
300 grams granulated sugar (1 1/2 cups)
2 orange peels, in 1-inch strips


Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine the water and orange peels Bring to a boil, then stir in the granulated sugar and allow it to dissolve.

Simmer mixture over low heat for 5 minutes. Do not boil.

Oranges and syrup in a saucepan

Remove pan from heat. Cover, set aside, and allow to cool completely, about 1 hour.

Use a fine mesh strainer to remove the orange peels. Use syrup as desired.

Store letfover simple syrup in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
