Made from fresh oranges and granulated sugar, this orange simple syrup recipe adds flavor to tea and coffee, moistens homemade cakes, and works as an orange cocktail syrup.
240 milliliters water (1 cup)
2 orange peels, in 1-inch strips
300 grams granulated sugar (1 1/2 cups)
In a medium saucepan, combine the water and orange peels. Bring to a boil, then stir in the granulated sugar and allow it to dissolve.

Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Do not boil.

Remove pan from heat. Cover, set aside, and allow to cool completely, about 1 hour.

Pass through a fine mesh strainer to remove the orange peels. Use syrup as desired.

Store letfover orange syrup in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
