A Christmas Chex mix recipe made with corn and rice cereal, pretzels, white chocolate, nuts, and holiday candy. This festive Christmas party mix offers a fun twist on traditional Chex mix. Perfect for holiday snacking!

Why Make This Christmas Chex Mix Recipe?
I love traditional, salty cereal mix (another thing I missed after moving to England—like pumpkin spice and everything bagel seasoning, Chex mix just doesn’t exist unless you buy the pricey imported stuff, or do your best to make your own at home using UK cereal substitutions.) But I also really enjoy the salty-sweet combo of chocolate, pretzels, and salted peanuts. Enter this Christmas Chex mix.
Featuring a blend of corn and rice cereal, plus miniature pretzels, melted white chocolate, peanuts, and holiday candy, this festive Christmas party blend offers a fun twist on traditional Chex mix. Serve it in big bowls as an appetizer at cocktail parties and holiday open houses, or sneak a handful or two as a seasonal snack.

Christmas Chex Mix Ingredients
To make this Christmas Chex mix recipe, start by gathering the following:
- Cereal – I chose a mix of toasted rice cereal and toasted corn cereal. Feel free to use one or the other, or add some wheat Chex to the mix. Generic cereals are fine. If making this recipe in the UK, opt for a similarly-shaped cereal like Shreddies or Malties, or a mix of the two. You can also purchase imported Chex on Amazon, or from a specialty shop like Partridges.
- Candy – I added 200 grams (about 1 US cup) of Christmas M&Ms to create the red-and-green color palette. For some other candy and mix-in suggestions, see my notes below.

- Pretzels – You can use pretzel squares, miniature pretzels or pretzel sticks. Or if you’re feeling bold, replace the pretzels with chocolate covered pretzels.
- Peanuts – Along with the pretzels, salted peanuts create the signature salty-sweet contrast. You can substitute another nut (pecans, pistachios), or replace with salted sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds for a nut-free option.
- White Chocolate Chips – While I recommend good-quality couverture for making truffles or chocolate barks, cheap white chocolate chips work just fine for this cereal mix recipe.

- Vegetable Oil – Vegetable Oil thins the chocolate slightly, so it coats the cereal mixture with ease. You can use another neutral-tasting oil (canola, coconut) as desired.
- Sprinkles – Christmas sprinkles add a festive finishing touch.
Customizing Christmas Party Mix
One of my favorite things about party mix? Customizing the mix-ins to suit my personal taste. It’s also a good way to use up “odds and ends” of dried fruit, nuts, or candies left over from other recipes. Some suggestions include:
- Peppermint – Stir 1-2 drops of peppermint oil into the melted white chocolate, and toss in crushed candy canes or peppermint crunch.
- Other Candy – Try adding Cadbury snowballs, Christmas gummy candy, bits of cranberry jelly candy, chopped candy bars, or crunchy toffee pieces.
- Homemade Sprinkles – I used store-bought Christmas sprinkles for the Chex mix in the photos, but feel free to make your own homemade sprinkles! You can also toss in some edible glitter for an extra-sparkly treat.

- Dried Fruit – Toss in dried cranberries, raisins, bits of candied orange peel, or homemade candied ginger.
- Nuts – Replace the peanuts with pecans, or maple cinnamon pecans.
